I have both the GOG and Steam versions. The GOG copy disables the GFWL requirment. GOG also includes the 4GB fix and other tweaks by default. Use ~ To open the console. I went to the drive that had Fallout NV installed, found the "appmanifest" file in the steamapps folder, I could tell it was the appropriate file because since I had tried to open Fallout NV at 7:00pm, it was the file recently modified at 7:00pm. I deleted the file with steam running, restarted steam, and Fallout NV started right up.
when i click play on steam, it takes me to the launcher and adjusts my settings accordingly, but when i click play it just restarts the launcher. this is probably due to when i moved steam along with my steam games from c drive to f drive, to save up some space, but ever since then fallout new vegas hasnt worked. i was wondering if there was a way to fix this. i have re installed multiple

Fallout 3 is more authentic imo, it is based in and around the Capital Wasteland, in DC rather than the mojave desert, in personal experience, playing through fallout 3 adds that element of realism, then after you've played through fo3, fallout new vegas is worth playing 10/10, beaware thou fo3 contains a few bugs and can sometimes crash unexpectedly, that said, it is an amazingly made game TTW is a Fallout New Vegas mod and uses the FNV executable. We only extract data from Fallout 3 during installation, then you can straight up uninstall Fallout 3 for all TTW cares. It's also a much more enjoyable and stable way of playing Fallout 3 than actually running Fallout 3, and that's why I'm recommending it.

The issues with Fallout 3 and NV are somewhat different. Fallout 3 is hard to get running, while New Vegas is hard to keep running. So for Fallout 3 the biggest hurdle is to get the game to run. Once you do so, the game is somewhat stable. While New Vegas usually runs right of the bat, but crashes much more frequently than Fallout 3.
This is how I got Fallout 3 to run on Windows 10. Go to your game directory (this is where I have it installed): C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 3 goty. Edit Fallout3.exe: Right click the icon with your mouse and go to Properties, and then Compatibility. Change these settings:
